Police Log: Feb. 8, 2012

FELONY ARRESTS

MALONE — A Malone man was arrested on a warrant Monday .

Jason C. Porter, 26, was arrested at 8:10 a.m. after being conditionally released from Bare Hill Correctional, according to Ray Brook-based State Police.

Porter was wanted from the state of Virginia on charges of robbery and possession of firearms in commission of a felony.

He was arraigned in Franklin County Court and sent to Franklin Correctional Facility until he could be picked up by Virginia officials.

NORTH ELBA — A Lake Placid teen faces a burglary charge.

Tyler J. Hart, 16, was arrested at 9:19 p.m. Monday on State Route 73 after he allegedly broke into a shed, took a bike and rode away, according to Ray Brook-based State Police.

Hart faces a felony charge of third-degree burglary and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.

He was arraigned in North Elba Town Court and remanded to Essex County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond.

MORIAH — A Port Henry man was arrested in Connecticut.

William J. Tausinger, 33, of Port Henry, was arrested in connection with an alleged burglary at the home of Roger St. George at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 21.

Lewis-based State Police said Tausinger was detained by the Norwich Police Department in Connecticut.

He is charged with second-degree burglary, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

He was also charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors.

Police said Tausinger was to be transported to Essex County Jail on Tuesday, where he will remain until his future court date. He is the fourth person to be arrested since the end of January linked to the Dec. 21 incident.

CHAZY — Two Westport men were charged with grand larceny.

Ray Brook-based State Police said Donald L. McQueen, 49, and Garrett L. McQueen, 23, were arrested at 12:32 p.m. Feb. 3 on Main Street Fair Grounds, allegedly linked to a Jan. 30 incident.

Police said they received a report that day from a business owner saying that $10,799.84 worth of products had been stolen from his business.

The McQueen men were each charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

No further information was available.

SARANAC LAKE — A Saranac Lake woman was charged with burglary.

According to a Saranac Lake Police Department press release, Michelle L. Doty, 32, was arrested at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday following an investigation into the burglary of a Saranac Lake business in December 2011.

Doty was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony.

She was arraigned in Saranac Lake Village Court and released under the supervision of probation.

No information was available as to her future court date.

PERSONAL-INJURY ACCIDENTS

PLATTSBURGH — One person was injured in a two-car accident Monday .

Ray Brook-based State Police said Bryan D. Wallenhorst, 48, of Plattsburgh, was traveling east on State Route 374 approaching the intersection of Banker Road as Jeffrey H. Annis, 54, of Morrisonville, was stopped at a stop sign on Banker Road, facing south.

Police said at around 2:07 p.m. Annis, driving a 1998 Saturn, failed to observe Wallenhorst, in a 2011 Toyota, entering the intersection and struck Wallenhorst's vehicle.

One person was reported injured.

They were transported to CVPH Medical Center, where they were treated and released.

SANTA CLARA — Two people were injured in a one-car accident on Feb. 3.

Gregory P. Hart, 56, of Norfolk, was traveling northwest on State Route 458 in a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox at around 11:09 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle due to driving at an unsafe speed for the icy road conditions, according to Ray Brook-based State Police.

Police said Hart's vehicle drifted and struck the north snow-covered shoulder and exited the roadway, striking a snow embankment. Police said his vehicle continued across the intersection of South River Road, off the west shoulder and struck a tree.

Hart's passenger was reported injured, however, no information was available as to his passenger's identity or condition.

BELLMONT — A Morrisonville woman was injured in a one-car accident on Feb. 4.

Ray Brook-based State Police said Alicia D. Sirk, 31, was traveling west on State Route 190 at around 4:53 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle due to traveling at unsafe speeds on snow-covered roadways.

Police said Sirk's vehicle crossed the eastbound lane, exited the roadway on the south shoulder and overturned in a ditch.

Sirk was reported injured and transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
