Road Construction Roundup: July 10, 2012

Road construction is under way throughout Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties.

Crews ask that motorists use caution when driving through work zones.

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.

Here is a look at some of the major work occurring this week:

CLINTON COUNTY

Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge, Rouses Point: Crews are replacing the bridge deck membrane and bridge joints. Paving operations will also be performed in the future. Traffic is reduced to one lane and controlled by a traffic light. The project is expected to take until Nov. 30 to complete.

Smith Road, Ellenburg : Crews will continue culvert replacements and drainage improvements between Plank Road and Ellenburg Center Road. Motorists should expect delays.

Route 11, Ellenburg: Crews will continue highway rehabilitation between the intersection of routes 11 and 190 and the Mooers/Altona line. Traffic is controlled by signs and flaggers.

Rand Hill Road, Altona: Crews will perform crack-sealing operations between Jericho and Route 190. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Motorists should expect delays.

Interstate 87, exits 39 and 38N: Bridge work has reduced traffic to one lane in both directions between exits 39 and 38N. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph. The Exit 38N southbound ramp is closed, and motorists should follow the posted detour if they want to go west on Route 374 and Route 22.

CITY OF PLATTSBURGH

Beekman Street: Crews are performing water-line and street-reconstruction work between Broad and Cornelia streets. Residents who live on Court or Brinkerhoff streets are encouraged to take alternate routes. Motorists should expect delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

St. Charles Street: Crews are performing road construction. On-street parking is banned between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. The project is expected to take until late July to complete.

ESSEX COUNTY

Route 86, Ray Brook: Crews are paving between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. Traffic is controlled by flaggers.

Old Military Road, Lake Placid: Crews are performing road construction. Traffic is controlled by flaggers.

Route 22, Willsboro: Traffic will flow in a single line in alternating directions from the Willsboro/Essex line to the Chesterfield/Willsboro line due to road construction that will occur until further notice.

Route 22, Willsboro: Crews are performing an asphalt treatment project between Willsboro and Route 9 at Interstate 87 Exit 33. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

Interstate 87, Exit 32: Crews are performing road construction in both directions from Exit 32 to the AuSable/Chesterfield line. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions.

Route 9N, Keene: Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in alternating directions at the intersection with Route 73 due to bridge construction. Traffic will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal.

Elizabethtown-Wadhams Road, Elizabethtown: Crews are performing paving operations. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

Route 9N, Port Henry: Crews are performing ditching operations between Port Henry and Ticonderoga. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.

FRANKLIN COUNTY

Countywide road construction: Crews will perform various work throughout the county. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers as necessary.

Route 37, Hogansburg: Crews will perform miscellaneous pavement work. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Motorists should expect minor delays.

Routes 3 and 30, Tupper Lake: Crews will begin paving operations Thursday. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Motorists should expect minor delays.
