Peru wins boys' tennis title; state qualifiers under way

BEEKMANTOWN — Jarid Stiles and Dylan Riley picked up a three-set victory at No. 1 doubles to help Beekmantown knock Peru from the unbeatens, 3-2, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys’ tennis Wednesday.

Despite the loss Peru was able to capture the CVAC title. The Indians and Saranac had identical 6-1 records, but Peru defeated the Chiefs in their head-to-head matchup.

Stiles and Riley defeated the Indians’ Pat Daly and Ernie Rock, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, which proved to be the difference in the match.

Willis Breyette/Spencer Keable also picked up a win in doubles for the Eagles to give them a perfect season. Mark Price added a victory for Beekmantown in No. 1 singles.

Johnny McAuliffe and Conner Bond paced Peru with victories in their singles matches.
