FELONY ARRESTS
NORTH ELBA — A Lake Placid man was arrested Friday night and charged with felony driving while intoxicated. State Police in Ray Brook report that William T. White, 35, was stopped at a DWI checkpoint in front of the Ray Brook Trooper barracks at about 9:45 p.m. White's blood alcohol content was reportedly above the legal limit, and he was charged with felony driving while intoxicated for having a previous conviction within the past 10 years. He was arraigned in North Elba Town Court before Town Justice Dietrich. He was released on his own recognizance pending further court action.
CHAMPLAIN — A Rouses Point man was arrested Friday evening for numerous charges, including a felony. State Police report that Fred P. Martin of Rouses Point was pulled over when his Vermont registered Buick drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic. Troopers checked Martin's driving record and found that along with having no license, he had numerous suspensions and revocations on his record. He was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation first degree, a felony. Martin was also arrested for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, and for unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, when Troopers discovered that Martin possessed 4 grams of marijuana. He was arraigned in Champlain Town Court by Town Justice John Labonte, and was sent to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. He will reappear in Champlain Court at 5 p.m. on Feb. 15.
CONDITION UPDATE
PLATTSBURGH — Two snowmobilers injured in a crash early Saturday morning in Champlain are still recovering from their injuries at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. A spokesman at Fletcher Allen reported that Douglas Tetreault, 22, of Champlain, and Robert Worrell, 20, of Plattsburgh, were both listed in good condition as of Saturday morning. There was no word how long the pair will have to remain in the hospital.
