Eugenio Festa

LAKE PLACID — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenio Festa on Nov. 15th at his home in Lake Placid, N.Y. after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He will be missed by his wife Catherine Ernst; his beloved daughter, Maria Carolina; his niece, Carolina Cappabianca Bursack and his family in Italy, his family-in-law and his friends.

Eugenio Festa came to Lake Placid from Rome in 1977 and fell in love with the region. He and a group of investors took Whiteface Inn out of bankruptcy and over the next 20 years worked with many people to develop the property's amenities, build roads and water lines and develop the Lakeside and Brookhill condominiums, creating the vibrant community of families that enjoy the property today.

The funeral service will be held at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid, N.Y., at 2 P.M. on Saturday, Nov. 17th, Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. The family will receive friends and family in the church as of 12:00 Noon. The M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home, Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements.

The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to all the people who so lovingly cared for him; Jason, Peter, Bill, Doctors, Craig Hurwitz, Steven Emmons, Marc Greenblatt and Anant Bhave; and all the nurses of the dialysis, oncology and intervention radiology units of AMC and FAHC, and finally the nurses and staff of High Peaks Hospice for their incredible care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to an organization that helps adolescents in need would be appreciated.

Family and friends are invited to "light a candle" and leave a thought, story and prayer for the Festa family at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com .
