Richard G. Bouyea Sr.

CLINTONVILLE — Richard G. Bouyea, Sr., 80, of State Route 9N, Clintonville, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Morrisonville, Aug. 14, 1932, the son of Edward and Eliza (Rougier) Bouyea.

Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1954.

He worked for many years at Diamond International in Plattsburgh prior to retiring.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the epitome of a people person. He also enjoyed watching sporting events of all types and playing games, including checkers, but his true joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife, Iona (Smith) Bouyea; children, Dick Bouyea and wife Liz, Judy Haywood, Carolyn Martin and husband John, and Marlene Jessey and husband Tom; grandchildren, Brandee Martin, Jaimie Martin and Aaron Thompson, Jesse and Traci Shambo, Alan and Carrie Winchell, Corey and Jennifer Bouyea, Heather and Eric Forgette, Bobby and Jennifer Haywood, Maryellen and Steve Burtis, Mindy Jessey; many great grandchildren; his siblings, Nola Jarrett, Arlene Gosnell, and Reginald Bouyea and wife June; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Joseph Bouyea; and niece, Karla Deyo.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, parish pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in AuSable Forks.
