COLCHESTER VT — Brenda A. Broomfield, 65, of Young St., died Sunday Nov. 25, 2012, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 26, 1947 the daughter of Russell and Helen (Donahue) Bigelow.
Brenda was a graduate of Dannemora High School.
The greatest joy in her life was spending time with her son and grandchildren. She was an avid participant of the Relay For Life, with Team SymQuest.
Brenda worked for SymQuest for 15 years, taking a leave of absence just recently due to her illness.
After 25 years with her companion, she married David Kirsch in Las Vegas in 2010, with Elvis Presley escorting her down the aisle.
Survivors include her husband David Kirsch of Colchester Vt; a son, Tom Broomfield and his companion Nicole Marcelle of St Albans, Vt.; grandchildren, Lily and Keegan Broomfield; a brother and sister-in-law, Rusty and Sue Bigelow of Morrisonville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darleen Bigelow and Philip Brown of Plattsburgh, Debrah and Mark Bordeau of Dannemora; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday Nov. 30th at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Robert W. Walker Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dannemora.
