Kennethea A. LaPlante Duprey

WALLINGFORD, CONN. — Kennethea A. LaPlante Duprey (Chi-Chi), 68, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a long and courageous battle with MS and liver disease.

She was the wife of Robert P. Duprey for 49 years. Chi-Chi was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. August 5, 1944 and was a Wallingford resident for over 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Ellen Rocque LaPlante.

She was employed as a sales manager for Turtle & Hughes Co., New Haven, for 12 years and worked part-time at CED Wallingford before her retirement. Chi-Chi was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima. She was an avid UCONN Huskies basketball fan. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her bird Amica and her two Shih Tzu's, Rocky and Raisin. Chi-Chi cherished her grandchildren above everything and she was their steadfast source for knowledge, advice, comfort, and love.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her three children, Daniel P. Duprey and his wife Andrea of Wallingford, Carrie L. Dolishny and her husband Michael of Meriden and Dina Duprey-Smith and her husband Tracy of Wallingford; five granddaughters, Nicole Alfonso and her husband Jorge of Wallingford, Michaela Dolishny and Mackenzie Dolishny of Meriden, Samantha Smith and Sabrina Smith of Wallingford; four siblings, Joanne Croteau and her husband Edward of Rochester, N.Y., William LaPlante and his wife Carol of Cadyville, N.Y., Jackie Sweeney and her husband Alfred of Enfield, Barbara Cominsky and her husband Kenneth of Warrenton, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hope Hill Road, Wallingford. Burial will be celebrated immediately after at St. John's Cemetery Wallingford.
