Eugene A. Beebie

PLATTSBURGH — Mr. Eugene A. Beebie, 88, of Facteau Avenue in Plattsburgh, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with family by his side.

He was born in Mooers on Nov. 12, 1924, the son of the late Abel and Mary (Riel) Beebie.

Eugene graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in 1943 and then served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 486th Ordnance Evacuation Company. He later was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Plattsburgh and retired as a supervisor after 28 years of service at the Post Office. He was a member of St. Peter's Church and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Theresa (Mongeon) Beebie; his children and their spouses, Michael Beebie of Plattsburgh, Peter J. Beebie of Plattsburgh, Teri-Gene and Curt Conlin of Evans Mills, N.Y.; his grandc children, Amanda Begore, Robin Trudeau, Katherine Beebie, Joseph Currie, Emily Conlin, Erinn Conlin; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his dog "Max".

A son, Mark Beebie; a great-grandson, Jordan Coss; and his brothers, Floyd, Earl, Douglas, Kenneth, and Conroy Beebie passed away earlier.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3 at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at St. Peter's Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

He was born on Burnt Hill near Saranac on June 15, 1923, the son of Hubert and Dora (Clancy) Downs. Dan was raised on Burnt Hill, and lived and worked in the area. He married Marion Macey on April 29, 1946, and lived on Burnt Hill until they built a home in Keeseville in 1960.
