TICONDEROGA — Douglas Lynn Porter, 61, of Ticonderoga, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Moses-Ludington Hospital.
Born in Ticonderoga, April 29, 1951, he is predeceased by his parents, Marvin H. and Eleanor (Elliott) Porter.
Doug was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga. He was employed by the International Paper Company for 32 years, and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club.
He loved gardening, nature, and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and a member of several hunting clubs, including the TNT and Moose Mountain Hunting Club.
Survivors include Claire V. Drake of Ticonderoga; one sister, Nancy Porter Fortier of Chester, Va.; one brother, Donald L. Porter and his wife Leora of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Tracey Courtright Hamel of Ticonderoga; three grandchildren, Scott, Sadie, and Seth Hamel of Ticonderoga; five nieces and nephews, Anne Fortier Skipper, David Jay Fortier, Sharon Fortier Estes, John L. Porter, and Elizabeth Porter Emrey; seven grandnephews; two grandnieces; and three great-grandnephews. Additionally, Mr. Porter is survived by Kelley Barnaby and her companion Bill Paige, of Ticonderoga along with his granddaughter, Trinity Faith Paige.
The family will hold a memorial gathering at a later date, to be announced.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
