BEEKMANTOWN — Delores C. Rivers, 80, died on Friday, Feb. 1, at Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, with her family by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 11, 1932, the daughter of Chester and Catherine (Martineau) Bushey.
Delores was a former Girl Scout Leader, a life member and former president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1466 Ladies Auxiliary in Beekmantown. She enjoyed traveling for the VFW Woman's Auxiliary.
Delores is survived by eight children and their spouses, Lawrence Rivers Jr. and Beverly McPhail of Topsham, Maine, Julie and Rickey Maxey of Portales, N.M., Steven and Cheryl Rivers of Beekmantown, Michael and Gail Rivers of Beekmantown, Terry Rivers and his companion Allison Pope, Glenn and Laura Rivers of Morrisonville, Suzanne and David Kinter of Beekmantown, Sherri and Clarence LaDuke of Malta; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Malcolm Bushey and his companion Becky Drollette of Beekmantown, Bernard and Linda Bushey of Beekmantown; four sisters and five-brothers in-law, Marion Lytle of Syracuse, Paul Gheniou of Beekmantown, Roxie and Leo Deyo of Beekmantown, Donna and Jerry Nephew of Fla., Judy Raml and her husband Jim Williams of Colo., Jackie Gleason of Niagara Falls, 29 grandchildren, 24great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Delores was predeceased by her husband Lawrence George Rivers; a granddaughter Stephanie Ann Rivers; two brothers Wilfred Bushey and Thomas Bushey; and two sisters-in-law Florence Bushey and Linda Bushey; six sisters, Eleanor Gheniou, Gertrude Fletcher, Margaret LaFountain, Muriel Gleason, Ruthie Bushey and Shirley Cerrullo; a brother-in-law, Raymond Lytle.
Calling hours will be held on from 1 pm. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, at the Brown Funeral Home Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery.
