PLATTSBURGH — Sherry Lee Shanty, 66, of Willow Beach in Plattsburgh, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born at Saranac Lake on Dec. 1, 1946, the daughter of the late Leon and Carol Shanty. She attended Canton ATC and then lived in Syracuse and worked at Coyne Industrial Laundry, General Electric and Pomeroy Appraisals. She later moved to Plattsburgh and was employed at Kenwood's Moving and Storage for over 24 years. She was an animal lover and an avid supporter of the Adirondack Humane Society.
She is survived by five siblings and their spouses; Michael and Carla Shanty of Lake Clear, Bruce and Jane Shanty of Saranac Lake, Jamie and Robin Shanty of Gabriels, Daryll and Preston Prue of N. Syracuse, Linda Shanty and her husband Henry Olivera of Miramar, Fla.; her nieces, Christine Lee, Michelle Shanty, Heather Jaquis, Jamylin Gardner, Sarah Trudeau, Tiffany Roche, Kimberly Shanty; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours will be held on from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery in Gabriels at a later date.
