PLATTSBURGH — Donald E. "Don" Strong Jr., 62, of Plattsburgh, N.Y. died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center with family by his side. He was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on July 30, 1950 the son of Donald E. and Myrtle (Erickson) Strong Sr.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and retired as superintendent of buildings and grounds from Beekmantown Central School. Don enjoyed bowling, golfing, tinkering and his 1959 jeep. He was a member of the American Legion Post #20 and the Benevolent and Protective of Elks, Plattsburgh Lodge #621. Don is survived by his wife Debra Strong of Plattsburgh. They were married Oct. 28, 2012, his stepchildren; Steven and Jennifer, three step grandchildren; Ethan, Hailee, Gavin, his brothers Gary Strong of Charlotte, N.C., Jeff Strong and his wife Sharon of Chittenango, Tim Strong of North Syracuse and Dana Thomas of Penn., several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y. A service will follow at 7 p.m. with the American Legion Post #20 presiding with military honors to follow. Burial will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, AuSable Forks, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA.
