ELLENBURG DEPOT — Curtis Edward DeCoste went home to be with the Lord whom he served on June 26, 2012. Curtis was well known in the community for being a member of and active participant in many local civic and political organizations.
Curt is best known as sole proprietor of the DeCoste Insurance Agency in Ellenburg Depot, N.Y. since 1985. Curt was very honored to serve his community and his friends. Curt was very active in New Covenant Church in Malone in many capacities since 1988. Curtis was Clinton County Delegate for the Republican Committee, served on the Ellenburg Republican Committee, the Ellenburg Town Board as Deputy Supervisor for two years and Financial Secretary, and was a member of the Clinton County Planning Board.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He graduated in the first class of the joint Northern Adirondack Central School in 1973. He was the senior class president.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond DeCoste and his maternal grandparents, Olive and Roy Begor. Survivors include his mother, Ethel DeCoste of Ellenburg Depot, his wife, Anita DeCoste of Ellenburg Depot; three sons, Jonathan C. King of Homestead, Fla., Justin DeCoste of Ellenburg Depot, Michael DeCoste of Ellenburg Depot; one brother, Calvin DeCoste of Syracuse, N.Y.; five sisters, Christine and Jim Hubbell of Marietta, Ga.,Cathy and Loren LaBombard of Rochester, N.Y., Conney and BrookRowe of Walled Lake, Mich., Carolyn and Mike Kingsley of Lewiston, Ind., Carla OReilly of Ellenburg Center; two grandchildren, Paloma and Athan.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 2, at the Ross Funeral Home in Ellenburg Depot. A Christian funeral will be 1 p.m. Tues. July 3, at the New Covenant Church, 5360 State Route 37 Malone. A reception will follow at 121 Elm Street Malone.
Memorial donations may be made to the New Covenant Church in Malone or North Country Home Health Services in Saranac Lake.
