UPPER JAY — William P. Weckesser (Wacky) passed away at his home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. He was born in Little Falls, N.Y. to Fred and Francis Weckesser.
William is survived by his wife, Patricia Weckesser; his brothers, David (Shelly), Arthur, and Freddie; sisters, Helene (Paul), Jill Francis (Alan), Mosher and Loretta; his children, William (Melissa) Cherish all from the Gloversville area; and his stepchildren, Edward (Karen) Reynolds, Randy (Sue) Reynolds, Walt (Lori) Reynolds, Kevin (Bonny) Reynolds, Herbert (Ashley) Reynolds, Helen (Mark) Paul, Rebecca (Alvin) Mason. He has 28 grandchildren and several great- grandchildren. William is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Franciss and a sister, Emma Jean.
William enjoyed going down to John Roy's Garage on a daily basis to hang out with the guys. He also enjoyed going with Ben on all the "Wrecker Runs". Snowmobiling, fishing and racing ( at Airborne on Saturday nights sitting on a wrecker) were also joys of his. William served in the military for 22 years, which includes two tours in Vietnam, Germany and Korea. He was stationed in the States. After active duty, William served in the National Guard in Watertown.
Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday March 9, with a funeral service following at 1 p.m. at Thwaits-Zaumetzer Funeral Home in AuSable Forks with full military honors. Donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project as well as any Cancer research fund.
