Allan J. Brideau Sr.

MORRISONVILLE — Allan J. Brideau Sr., 87, of Twin Birch Lane, Morrisonville, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at home with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Amesbury, Mass., on Oct. 30, 1925, the son of the late J. Charles and Cecilia (Kirby) Brideau. Allan was educated in New Brunswick, Canada. He was employed as a millwright for General Motors in North Tarrytown, N.Y. for 40 years. He was a member of St. James Church in Cadyville and was a founding member of the American-French Club in North Tarrytown. He was called "Poppi" by all.

He enjoyed fishing, watching hockey and baseball, and collecting antique tools. He had an outstanding sense of humor and the ability to make everyone around him laugh. Poppi was generous, caring and his greatest love was for his family. Allan was predeceased in 2010 by his loving wife of 62 years, Concetta "Nana". He was also predeceased by his sister, Melvina Boudreau; and his brother, Roland Brideau.

He is survived by a son, Charles J. Brideau and his wife Jane of Coppell, Texas and their children Katy, Emily and James; a daughter, Celia M. Mischler and her husband Scott Mischler of Morrisonville and their children Gregory and his wife Michelle, Stephen and Patrick; a son, Allan J. Brideau Jr., and his wife Martha of Fishkill, N.Y., and their children, Tiffany DeCarlo and her husband Dominic DeCarlo, Kiersten Miller and her fianc^ Ryan Caviola; and four great-grandchildren, Vanessa DeCarlo and Dominic DeCarlo Jr., Arthur and Samuel Mischler; his sisters, Sister Amanda Brideau, S.S.J., Harriet and her husband Jean Marie Paulin, Isabelle Basque, Norma Bolduc and her husband Rene Bolduc. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Brown Funeral Home, 3 Park Row, Cadyville, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, at St. James Church in Cadyville, with Msgr. Lawrence Deno, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery at a later date.

Friends wishing, may make donations in his memory to the Christmas Bureau, as Poppi and Nana loved giving presents to children.
