Earl Francis Dumas

BEEKMANTOWN — Earl Francis Dumas, 87, formerly of the Monty Rd. and more recently of Keesville, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at CVPH Medical Center. Earl was born on Sept. 2, 1925 in Plattsburgh, the son of Edward and Stella (Breault) Dumas.

Earl was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII, Serving from 1943 to1946. During his time in the Corps he was an embassy guard in London. After the war, he worked as a cabinetmaker in Brooklyn, N.Y., until returning to Plattsburgh. He was a member of the teamsters union driving for Anchor Motor Freight, and also a foreman at Upstate Precision. Then after semi retiring, he worked for Linney's True Value Hardware. Earl was a communicant at St. John's Church in Keesville, N.Y.

Earl is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Inselsberger of Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Dumas of Chazy, N.Y., Richard and Patricia Dumas of Red Lion, Pa., and Christopher and Julie Dumas, of Citus Heights, Calif.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Stewart Patnode of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Christina and Richard Woodbury of Hermon, Maine; two brothers, Roland Dumas and his wife Marie of Plattsburgh and Richard W. Dumas and his wife Linda of W. Chazy; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Gerald, Alfred and Floyd Dumas and a sister, Marjorie Dumas.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy followed by a reception in the church hall.

Donations, in his memory, may be made to Disabled American Veterans or the American Cancer Society.
