MOOERS — Eric Stefan Monty, 45 of Mooers passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, in Altona. Born Sept. 9, 1967, in Plattsburgh, the sixth child of Morton "Bud" Monty and Anna "Mitzie" (Schoepl) Monty. He was a lifelong Resident of Mooers Forks but he was at home throughout the North Country.
Eric leaves behind his daughter McKayla Monty; his fianc^e Gladys Daniels; his stepdaughters, Jenna Soden and Nicole (Rob) Woods; a brother, Deacon Dennis (Stella) Monty and their children, Philip (Cristabel), Sara (Caleb) Irwin and Aaron Jake; a brother, Alan (Barbara) Monty, son Nicolas; a sister , Mary Ellen (Ron) Tomo and children, Shannon (Fiance Scot Aguglia), Gretchen (Josh) Depo, Nathaniel and Alexandra; a sister, Susan (Ken) Roberts and their children, Katharine (fianc^ Chris Weis), Dylan and Gareth; his aunt and God Mother, Mary Monty-Manchester and family; an aunt, Judy Monty-Forkey and family; an aunt Lillian Schoepl-Mahony and family; an uncle Leo (Carol) Schoepl and family.
He was predeceased by his father; a brother, Michael Monty, his wife, Norma Jean (Guerin) Monty; his uncle and God Father, Wes Manchester and a special cousin, Steven Mahony.
Eric graduated from NCCS and became a trained Diesel mechanic at technical school in Windsor Falls. Conn. He was a mechanic, shop foreman and road service specialist for Champlain Peterbilt for the past 23 years. He was a driver for the Champlain/Mooers ambulance service for the past two years and a new member of the Mooers Volunteer Fire Department.
Eric had the ability, like his father, to see the good in every person he met. He attempted to treat all people with the respect they deserved. He had a joy for life that lifted those around him. His mischievous spirit infected anyone who came in contact with him.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1st at Holy Angel's Church in Altona. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Following the Mass, there will be a reception at the Holy Angel's Church Hall.
