ELLENBURG — Laverne E. Trombley, 84, of the West Hill Rd., Ellenburg, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family and Hospice of the North Country.
Born on March 7, 1928 in Ellenburg Center, N.Y., he was the son of Charles and Laura (Bushey) Trombley.
He was married to Theolus LaPier on June 21, 1952 in Scotia, N.Y.
Mr. Trombley owned and operated the Trombley Family Farm on the West Hill Rd. in Ellenburg. He was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church, Ellenburg. He loved farming and mowing hay was his favorite. His best times were when he was surrounded by his family.
Mr. Trombley is survived by his wife, "Toly" of 60 years; seven children and their spouses, Carl and Gloria Trombley of Ellenburg Center, Diane and Bruce Coupal of Mooers, Chris and Larry Morrison of Plattsburgh, Bruce and Sheila Trombley of Ellenburg, Sue and Randy Davison of Mooers Forks, Tom and Emmie Trombley of Ellenburg, Amy and Michael Dragoon of Altona; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Rita Malark of Glens Falls, Richard Trombley of Altona, Theresa Powers of Plattsburgh, Beulah and Bernard Whalen of Plattsburgh, Walter and Ann Trombley of Ellenburg Center, Marjorie and Bill Matthews of Churubusco, Bertha Barcomb of Plattsburgh, Leonard Trombley of Ellenburg; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; granddaughter, Cari Coupal; and grandson, Matthew Trombley; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, David Malark, Martha Trombley, Ken Powers and Roger Barcomb.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28 in St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay, with Rev. John Looby officiating.
There will be a reception at the Ellenburg Center Fire Station following Mass.
Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the North Country.
