TICONDEROGA — Helen Lucille Martin, 85, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ticonderoga, Dec. 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Gladys (Wright) Bright.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga. She married James Martin on Oct. 16, 1949.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed working as a waitress at the Burleigh House of Ticonderoga, while it was owned by the Labatore family.
Mrs. Martin enjoyed camping with her husband, children and grandchildren at many campgrounds throughout the United States.
She was a former American Legion Auxiliary member.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, James Martin in March of 1991.
Survivors include her three children, Dianne Michalak and her husband Joseph, James J. Martin and his wife Brenda, and Debra Fortino and her husband Jay, all of Ticonderoga; five brothers, Francis Bright of Ticonderoga, Jack Bright of Crown Point, Norman Bright, Bob Bright, and Tom Bright, all of Ticonderoga; and three sisters, Louise Johnson of Port Henry and Shirley Noel and Ruth Ann Burns, both of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.
A Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Bolstridge, Pastor of the Cornerstone Alliance Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.
