Genevieve M. Blaise

WILLSBORO — Genevieve M. Blaise, 90, of Sunset Drive, Willsboro, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital.

She was born in Peru, Aug. 28, 1922, the daughter of Henry and Celia (Soulia) Mitchell. Genevieve was a graduate of Peru High School. She married Robert Blaise on Nov. 1, 1940 at St. Augustine's Church in Peru before The Rev. Arthur Trudell. Mr. Blaise predeceased her, June 14, 1991.

Genevieve was the secretary and bookkeeper for the Clinton Essex Franklin Library System for 19 years, retiring in 1981.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Philip of Jesus Church in Willsboro, former member and past Regent of the Catholic Daughters Of The Americas Court St. Joan of Arc #867 in Willsboro, member of the Altar Rosary Society, and a volunteer for several other local organizations.

Genevieve enjoyed gardening, crafts, reading, and sports.

Survivors include three daughters and one-son-in-law, Patricia DesRocher of Gansevoort, N.Y., Carol LaDieu of Plattsburgh, and Donna and Henry Olsen of Gansevoort; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Bernon Mitchell and Henry Mitchell.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton St., Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the St. Philip of Jesus Church in Willsboro, with Rev. John M. Demo, parish Pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Friday, April 26, following a 9 a.m. Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church.
