PERU — Evelene M. Merrill, 78, formerly of the Blake Road, Peru, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh, August 7, 1934, the daughter of Hubert and Agnes (Davidson) Ormsby.
Evelene was a seamstress at Pellman's Men's Store in Plattsburgh for many years. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing and jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include her children; son, Gene Merrill and companion Debbie Barber; two daughters and one son-in-law, Penelope Merrill and Candy and Roger Gonyea; three grandchildren, Angelique Merrill, Paul Burgette and Corey Merrill; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Grinnell, Addison Grinnell, Jacob Burgette and Miles Burgette; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and William Garrow; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Harris H. Merrill; and twin sister, Gertrude Allen.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, with Rev. Jessie Doerrer, CVPH Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be private at the Peru Cemetery Inc.
