PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Madeleine H. "Luvy" Bechard, 74, of Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Napierville, Quebec, May 15, 1938, the daughter of Dosithe and Fernande (Perrier) Martineau.
She married Richard Bechard on April 27, 1957 in Napierville.
Madeleine wintered in Naples, Fla. and enjoyed gardening, reading, history, spending time with family and her friends in Florida. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Matthew and Kara.
She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Dr. Jeffrey R.
Bechard; her siblings, Jocelyne Martineau Lussier, Louise Martineau Harbec, Gilles Martineau, Fernand Martineau; and a brother-in-law, Jean-Guy Sorel.
Madeleine is survived by a daughter, Debbie Bruno and her husband Kevin of Morrisonville; her grandchildren, Matthew Bruno of Plattsburgh, Kara Bruno-Hicks and her husband Joshua of Plattsburgh; her step great-granddaughter, Jaidin Hicks; her siblings, Ronald Martineau and his wife Florence Sorel, Gisele Martineau Sorel, Jeannine Sorel, Jean-Paul Lussier, Alain Harbec, Andre Martineau and his wife Claudette Fortin, Yvon Martineau, Denise Poupart Martineau, Carmen Martineau and her partner Gaston Blais, Pauline Bissaillon and her husband Paul, Jocelyn Longtin, Michel Martineau and his wife Lise Thibodeau; her Florida friends, John Turner, Alfred Strand and Jean Staubs; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb.. 27, 2013, at the Brown Funeral Home 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (518) 561-3980.
A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. William G. Reamer officiating.
