Lorraine N. Burdeau

LAKE PLACID - Mrs. , 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, with her family by her side, under the loving care of the staff at High Peaks Hospice and Adirondack Medical Center- — Uihlein .

She was born in Altona on June 2, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alta (LaPorte) Forkey. Lorraine married Harold Burdeau in Buffalo, N.Y. on Nov. 7, 1942. Together, they operated a general store for many years in Mooers Forks.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1997; her brother Owen Forkey; her sisters, Florence and her husband George Bressett, Dora and her husband Herbert Deyo, Marion and her husband Thomas Hawksby, Pearl and her husband^ Luman Latremore.

She is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Elaine and Gary Sargeant of Plattsburgh, Linda Burdeau of Lake Placid; three grandchildren, Jay Sargeant of Peru, Jamie and her husband Rob Anderson of Plattsburgh, Jodie and her husband Steve Gitto of Hinesburg, Vt.; three great-grandchildren, Gary Sargeant and his wife Jolie of Ellenburg Depot, Jessica and her husband Ryan Gregware of Sanford, Fla., and Connor Sargeant of Peru; three great-great grandchildren, Eli, Mirabel and Jameson Sargeant of Ellenburg Depot; and many nieces and nephews.

During her life, Lorraine was active in her church and made many friends in the Home Bureau, but the greatest joy in life was her grandchildren.

There is no way we can adequately express our appreciation for the wonderful care she received during her stay at Uihlein. Thanks to everyone on Unit 2 and a very special thanks to Michelle.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

Memorial donations may be offered to High Peaks Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh. Online condolences may be made and memorial candles lit at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com.
