CROWN POINT — John Meachem, 62, of Breed Hill Rd., Crown Point died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at his home. He was born July 28, 1950 in Moses Ludington Hospital, Ticonderoga, the son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Baker) Meachem.
John worked as a woodsman. Before his illness he enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also took comfort with his two dogs, listening to country music, especially Willie Nelson.
John is survived by three daughters, Lianne Meachem Burleson, Brooke Burrows and Elizabeth Hanson; and two sons, John (Dawn) Meachem and Jonathan (Erin) Meachem; grandchildren, Keyshawn, Devon, Hunter and Trinity Meachem, Althea Sharp, Spencer and Caleb Meachem. He is also survived by his best friend, caregiver and brother, Joseph (Brenda) Meachem; sisters, Bette (Francis) Pertak and Jeanne Meachem; also several nephews, nieces, cousins and good friend Craig Genier.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Joyce Brace and brothers in-law Robert Meachem and David Brace.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Deacon Elliott Shaw will officiate.
