Carl R. Floyd

WESTPORT — Carl R. Floyd, 85, of Main Street, Westport, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.

He was born in Westport, July 24, 1927, the son of Justin and Mattie (Decker) Floyd.

Carl was a self employed milk hauler for 31 years. He was a Westport Village Trustee for 20 years and the Mayor of Westport for 14 years. Carl also worked for the Essex County Highway Dept. for 3 years and lastly, NYS DOT in Elizabethtown for 7 years.

He enjoyed fiddling, traveling, fishing, and hunting.

He was a member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge, Westport Fire Dept, and the Westport Emergency Squad.

Survivors include his loving wife, Theresa Bezio Floyd; daughter, Tammy Bigelow and husband Keith; son, Alan Floyd; grandchildren, Jordan, Jeff, Amanda, Justin, Amy, Court, and Kayla; great-grandson, Adam Quigley; sister, Ida Brankman; sister-in-law, Hilda Heyward Floyd; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Donald and Clark; sisters, Ethel, Hilda, and Ruth; daughter-in-law, Tammy Floyd; and grandson, Adam Floyd.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at St. John's Church in Keeseville. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish Cemetery.

He married Marion Macey on April 29, 1946, and lived on Burnt Hill until they built a home in Keeseville in 1960.
