Edmund L. "Ed" Sussdorff Jr.

PORT KENT — Edmund L. "Ed" Sussdorff Jr., 82, of Lake Street, Port Kent, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side. He was born in Port Kent, July 15, 1930, the son of Edmund and Margaret (Muir) Sussdorff.

He graduated from Arizona State University and later received his Master's degree in Education from Plattsburgh State University.

Though Ed held many positions throughout his life, his true passion was teaching. He retired from Peru Central School Primary in 1992.

Ed was proud of his civic positions. He was a member of the Keeseville Kiwanis Club, Civil Air Patrol, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, and a longtime supervisor at the Peru Central School Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed an active lifestyle driving his antique cars, flying his seaplane, motorcycling, and boating on Lake Champlain.

Survivors include his nine children, Margaret and husband Jay Serain of Hilo, Hawaii, Martha and husband Barry White of Morrisonville, Thomas Sussdorff of Morrisonville, Dorothy Chauvin and companion Stephen Brown of Morrisonville, Stephen and wife Amalia Sussdorff of Huntsville, Utah, Jenny and husband Kevin Lyon of Peru, Mindy and companion Matt Chase of Plattsburgh, Lisa and husband John Atwood of Plattsburgh and Edmund J. "Eddie" and wife Angie Sussdorff of Port Kent; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Sussdorff and companion Arlene St. John of Stuart, Fla.; special friend, Joan McCormick; and his first wife, Nancy Shene of Morrisonville.

He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Elspeth McMoniull; his second wife, Patricia (Papp) Sussdorff; and one son-in-law, Martin Chauvin.

There will be no public calling hours or services at this time. At Ed's request, there will be a gathering of family and friends at a date and time to be announced in the summer of 2013.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Federal Credit Union Scholarship Fund.

    HERKIMER — Russell A. LaFontaine, 91, of Herkimer and formerly of Champlain, N.Y., passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 15, 2013, in the Folts Home, Inc., Herkimer, with his family by his side. He was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Champlain, the son of the late Emmett and Elsie (Allard) LaFontaine and was educated in Champlain schools. Russell served in the United States Army during World War II. He married the former Leona Dupee. Mrs. LaFontaine passed away in 1989.
