William Edward Hoffmann

PERU — William Edward Hoffmann, passed away on Nov. 15, 2012, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. William was born on March 31, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Frank Francis Hoffmann and Elizabeth Vilma (Ajer) Hoffmann.

William graduated in 1946 from Brooklyn Technical High School. After high school, he volunteered to join the United States Army where he served with the 6th infantry division in Pusan, Korea as a finance clerk. His active service was from Oct. 2, 1946 to March 20, 1948 and achieved the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. Upon honorable discharge, he attended Champlain College in Plattsburgh, N.Y., where he graduated with a degree in psychology in 1953.

He married Gail Marie Page of Plattsburgh, N.Y., on June 27, 1970. At the time of his marriage, he worked at Hydro Molding as a drafting engineer. Later on, along with a partner, he started Northern Precision Mold, Inc. Near the time of his retirement, he was the sole owner of the company. William was a long time member of St. Augustine's Church in Peru. He was also a life member of the Plattsburgh Elks Club. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing and bowling. He was also a member of the Plattsburgh Bowling Association. William was predeceased by his parents, as well as his uncle, Theodore Hoffmann and niece, Betsy Billings.

He is survived by his wife Gail; his daughter, Barbara Ann Rubinstein, daughter, Patricia M. Rasmussen and son-in-law David, daughter, Terry-Marie McCorkindale and son-in-law James; son, Brian K. Bloom and daughter-in-law Phyllis, son, William Joseph Hoffmann; his grandchildren, Robert H. Rubinstein, Sherry-Mae Rasmussen, Shaunalee McCorkindale, Jayme McCorkindale, Aaron McCorkindale, Christopher Bloom and Robert Bloom. William is also survived by his brother, Frank A. Hoffmann and sister-in-law Lydia also with nieces and nephews.

At Bill's request there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at St. Augustine's Church in Peru, NY.
