Liane Hunsdon

TICONDEROGA — Liane Hunsdon was born in Ticonderoga, on Dec. 2, 1962.

She graduated from Ticonderoga Central School. In 1985, at the age of 23 she was in a terrible car accident. She was trapped in a burning car where she sustained third and fourth degree burns all over her body. She lost part of her leg and the function of one of her fore arms, amongst other things. She had to be skin graphed and the doctors really didn't have much expectations for her to survive. After being in a coma for six months, she came out and started her rehabilitation. That is when they listed the many things that she would never be able to do again, one of which was walking.

I guess, they didn't know who they were talking to. That was all she needed. It was a rocky start, but before long she was up walking and taking care of herself. There were very few things that she couldn't do, but believe me she tried to do everything. If she couldn't physically do it, she would come up with an idea, pass it on to one of her brothers or sisters, they would function something and before long she could do it. She gave birth to two wonderful daughters, went to college over the internet, and held down an accounting job at ACAP in Elizabethtown.

In 2011 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She did what ever they said to do, even one of the hardest things, undergoing a mastectomy. She kept right on going, with the attitude of "What do we have to do next?" She didn't give up. Some people call that being stubborn, but that is 100% pure determination. She passed away on March 8, 2013, at the age of 50.

Even now, asking anyone who knew her, "What do you remember about Liane?" They don't talk about her being handicapped or disabled, or how much they pitied her. Instead, you get this big, giant, almost devilish smile. You know the one, that reaches from ear to ear when you think about a time when you have had way too much fun and have gotten away with it. Then they answer " She is a LOT of fun."

Through all the trials and tribulations that she had throughout her life, there was nothing more important to her than her children, family, and friends. She would help anyone she could, and do it with a smile on her face. She was a great mother, daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and a wonderful friend. We will all miss her and what she brought to our lives.

We all love you, Liane, and you will forever be in our hearts.

She was predeceased by her father, John W. Hunsdon. She is survived by her daughters, Brook and

Cortney Brown; her mother, Heidi Hunsdon; two brothers, Darrin Hunsdon and Brian Hunsdon and his wife Carrie; two sisters, Sonja Hunsdon and Gina Lahendro and her husband Gabriel; nine nieces, five nephews, four great-nieces and one great-nephew, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A service will follow in the spring.
