Ida M. Allen

PORT HENRY — Ida M. Allen, 92, of Port Henry, N.Y., died on Thursday, March 7, 2013, with her loving family by her side, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Bucky and Diane Allen, where she had been living since December 1, 2012.

She was born on July 13, 1920 in McKenzie City, Port Henry, N.Y., the daughter of George W. and Jessie (Putnam) Gonyo.

After graduating from Crown Point Central School, she worked in pediatrics at St. Joseph's Infant Home, Troy, N.Y., until her marriage.

She married Angelo E. Allen on April 25, 1939 at Crown Point, N.Y. Ida and Andy raised four children on a small working farm, who survive her; Sonny and Jean Allen of Crown Point, N.Y., Barbara and Reginald Macey of Ft. Edward, N.Y., Angie Genier and her companion Rowan Malbon of Mineville, N.Y., and Bucky and Diane Allen of Port Henry, N.Y. She leaves 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Rita and Scott Disorda, Todd and Jackie Palmer, Jody and Jennifer Palmer, Carmen and Jim Alley, Andy and Jessica Macey, Regina and Rob Ladd, Julie and Michael Kent, Reggie Macey and fianc^ Cindy Terry, Eric Rice, Debra and Corey Drake, Scott and Rose Rice, Vince Genier, David and Regina Allen, Karen and Jason Keach; 29 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marcia Gonyo-Colvin; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Ida enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, walks in the woods and especially enjoyed traditional family gatherings for the holidays and on family birthdays. The time she spent with her family made her the most happiest.

Ida was predeceased by her husband, Angelo E. Allen on Feb. 12, 1979, her parents; brothers, Joseph, Henry, George R., and her "twin" William C. Gonyo; sisters, Clara Gonyo and Evelyn Cutting.

At Ida's request there will be no public calling hours or services. Burial will be in the spring in the Ironville Cemetery in Crown Point, N.Y. Donations in Ida's memory can be sent to High Peaks Hospice, P.O. Box 192, Mineville, NY 12956.
