PLATTSBURGH — Frances Gardner, 98, formerly of Plattsburgh died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Alice Hyde Nursing Home, Malone, NY. Born on May 2, 1914, in Mooers Forks, N.Y., she was the daughter of Frank and Delia (Snide) Bassford.
Mrs. Gardner attended school in Mooers Forks. She was employed as a cook for several years and was also employed for the Boston Store in Schenectady. She returned to the north country in 1982 when she moved to Plattsburgh.
She is survived by: a son Richard Gardner of Merrill, three grandsons; James, Joseph and his wife, JoEllen and Adam Gardner, six great-grandchildren; Rebecca, Quinton, Nicholas, Andrew, Jesse and Kasey Gardner, a great-great-grandson Abel Gardner.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Robert Bassford in 1965; and sister-in-law, Leola Bassford in 2005.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, in St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay with Rev. John Looby officiating. Spring burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Mooers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
