STANDISH — Betty King, 78, of Standish, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at her home. She was born in Standish on Jan. 20, 1934, daughter of the late Louis and Stella (Macey) Lashway.
Betty loved playing cards. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Roy Pickering of Saranac; one sister, Arma Bradfield; one brother, Kenny Lashway; eight grandchildren, Betty Alexander, Bobbi Dupraw, Brenda Pickering, Deborah Rodriguez, Amy Jalbert, William Barnaby, Raymond Barnaby Jr., and Jamie Ormsby; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Frederick King Jr.; two daughters, Janet Slyman and Bernadette Barnaby; and 16 brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will be held later this year at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Lyon Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory may be made to the American Red Cross in Plattsburgh.
