— A memorial service will be held for Eileen Rice Walker on January 19th at 1:00PM at St. Alexander's Church, 1 Church Street, Morrisonville, NY. A reception will follow to celebrate her life immediately after the memorial service at Irises Cafe, 20 City Hall Place, Plattsburgh, NY.
Eileen, age 63, died on December 31, 2012 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was a highly gifted artist and widely known and respected in the Plattsburgh area. More impressively, Eileen had an incredible capacity to love. She truly loved her husband, Roger Bartlett, her large family, her numerous friends and her dogs. If you were ever privileged to be included in one of Eileen's group email discussions you would quickly understand the magnitude and depth of her friendships and the people that she loved and who loved her in return.
Eileen was a graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. After a successful business career in Plattsburgh she moved to Albany to attend the SUNY at Albany where she obtained her Master of Fine Arts degree. With Roger's encouragement and support, while pursuing her MFA and thereafter, Eileen "spread her wings" and followed her lifelong dream to create. This brought incredible satisfaction and joy to her life. Her legacy is filled with many beautiful masterpieces that remind us all each day of her talent, her wisdom and her love. We have all been deeply moved and affected by Eileen and her spirit and soul shall now continue to help us experience the beauty of our lives.
