Barbara S. Blaise Barber Gordon

KEESEVILLE — Barbara S. Blaise Barber Gordon, 77, of the Mace Chasm Road, Keeseville, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her home with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Keeseville, June 2, 1935, the daughter of Lawrence and Margaret Blaise.

She attended St. John's Convent and graduated from Keeseville High School. She graduated from Clinton Community College with high honors. Barbara worked several places throughout the years, retiring from Horace Nye Nursing Home after many dedicated years.

She loved traveling, playing cards, and visiting with people. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Barbara was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Ladies Auxiliary of the Lady of the Elks. She was also a member of St. John's Church, serving as usher and Eucharistic Minister and was a member and trustee for Woodman of the World Life Insurance Society.

Survivors include her husband, Warren Patrick Gordon; children, Sandra Mero and husband Richard, Stephen Barber and wife Lisa, Margaret McNierney and husband Scott, Rodney Barber and wife Cheryl, Melissa Kilbourn and husband Scott, Tricia Fields and companion Peter Crowningshield; son-in-law, Frank Fields; stepchildren, Beth Mazzone and husband Chester, Jo Anne Case and husband Roger, Tim Gordon and wife Marilu, Maureen Pray and husband Darcy; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; siblings, Ernest Blaise Sr. and wife Eleanor, Sherwood Blaise and wife Brenda, Norma Nance and husband John, Doris Sullivan and husband Bill, Sally Scharabok and husband Wayne, Patricia Blaise and companion Brad, Alvin Blaise and wife Stephanie, Kenny Mousseau and wife Martine; two aunts, Jane Fountain and Joan Doyle; several nieces and nephews; and very close friends, Irene Crowningshield, special little companion, Buster, Dorothy McLean, Robert Armstrong and wife Nancy; and lots of other close friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; first husband George Patrick Barber Jr.; infant brother, Norman Blaise; one great-grandchild, Leah Elizabeth LaHart; grandparents, Nelson and Mable Blaise and Eli and Nellie Blaise.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton St., Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at St. John's Church, Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, celebrating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Friday, April 26, following a 9 a.m. Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church.
