MYRTLE BEACH,S.C. — William "Bill" Woltjen born March 22, 1927 passed away Jan. 4, 2013.
Bill was a native of Hackensack, N.J. After serving in the Navy during WWII he graduated from Rutgers University. His first employment was in New York City in the insurance industry followed by employment in Rhode Island. His career took a different direction when he became controller at the University of Rhode Island and finally Senior Business and Finance Officer at the University of New York at Plattsburgh, N.Y. After spending 20 years at SUNY he retired to Myrtle Beach, S.C. area where the family had camped for years. He was active in the Shriners Children Hospital, President of the United Way and the Plattsburgh Rotary Club. He was also active in the Masonic fraternity. Bill served on a number of boards and advisory committees where he lived. He was member of two Olympic Committees. He was also a member of the Surfside Rotary Club and served as a member of Rotary International small farmer training program in Ecuador, South America.
Bill is survived by his Wife "Pat" of 61 years, his three sons and their wifes, four grand daughters and one great-grand daughter.
In lieu of flowers Bill has requested that donations be made to the Shriners Children Hospital, or the Church of the Resurrection at Surf Side Beach, S.C.
