CHAZY — William H. "Skip" Saxe, 83, of Chazy Landing, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 28, 1929, the son of Emerson and Lucy (Heaton) Saxe.
Skip was married to the former Esther Gardell for 35 years. Esther died in 1997. He attended Plattsburgh High School, Peddie School, Champlain College and the University of Vermont. After service in the U.S. Army he was employed at several area financial institutions, Plattsburgh National Bank, Champlain Valley Federal Savings and Loan and the National Commercial Bank.
He later worked for U.S. Immigration as a Customs Officer for 27 years retiring in 1988. Skip was active in several social and fraternal organizations and he also served a term on the Chazy School Board.
Survivors include three sons, Emerson W. Saxe of Rouses Point, Scott B. Saxe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and John W. Saxe of Chazy Landing; one sister, Helen Booth and her husband, Robert of Plattsburgh; one grandson and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours or funeral services. Internment will be in the Old Saxe Cemetery at Chazy Landing at the convenience of the family.
