Shawn M. McCool

PLATTSBURGH — Shawn M. McCool, 53, of the Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh, died peacefully, Thursday, March 14, 2013, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.

She was born in Plattsburgh, January 2, 1960, Beverly (Dame) Forget and the late Ronald Forget. Shawn grew up in Plattsburgh and graduated from Peru Central School in 1978, and later from OLVA School in Plattsburgh. She also took accounting classes at the University of New Hampshire.

Throughout her life she worked for many companies in several capacities including, secretary for nations top Neurosurgeon, Las Vegas, Nev.; IRS, Portsmouth, N.H.; RAF Little Rissington, England-Commanders Secretary at Contingency Hospital during Desert Storm; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rapid City, S.D.; and was a CSR at Rose & Kiernan Insurance, Plattsburgh, CSR at Cool Insurance, Plattsburgh, office manager at Allstate, Plattsburgh, and lastly CSR at Agency Insurance, Plattsburgh. Shawn traveled to Washington DC to receive an award for employee public service from the IRS.

She enjoyed kayaking, motorcycling, and camping, she was an avid sports enthusiast and her children's biggest fan, crafts, gardening, fishing, heart walks, Peru Wrestling Club, was proud to have taken first place in the Bed Race theme decoration, two years in a row, cooking, baking, and reading. Shawn never said no to anyone, she loved to spoil her family. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, and giving, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, Clinton G. McCool, who she married August 18, 1979, in Plattsburgh; three children, Kelly A. (McCool) Schwarz and her husband, Johnathan M. Schwarz of Cedar Park, Tx, Kaleen M. McCool of Peru, and Clinton H. McCool of Beekmantown; three grandchildren, Rebecca A. Schwarz, James M. Schwarz, and Johnathan A. Schwarz; her mother, Beverly Forget of Plattsburgh; four brothers and sister-in-laws, Andrew and Tammy (Nolan) Forget of Plattsburgh, Joseph and Tammy (Lavor) Forget of Plattsburgh, Terrance and Angela (Van Nortwick) Forget of Plattsburgh, and Timothy and Robin (Danford) Forget of Schuyler Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

At Shawn's request there will be no public calling hours. A memorial Mass will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish pastor, celebrating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hope Lodge and mailed to, Hope Lodge, 237 East Avenue, Burlington, Vt, 05401.
