REDFORD — Mrs. Sandra L. "Sandy" Miner, 66, of Church Street in Redford, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 8, 1946, the daughter of the late Cassius and Madeline (Hebert) Shappy Sr.
Sandy graduated from Ausable Forks High School in 1966. She was a nurses aide at the CV Hospital for several years. She was a communicant of the Church of the Assumption in Redford and was church soloist for 35 years. She was also a member of the 3rd Order of Franciscans and the Catholic Daughters Court # 592 Mary Admirable.
She enjoyed greeting people and singing at birthdays and family events. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Rudy Miner; her sons, Mark Miner of Plattsburgh, Kevin Miner and his wife Kristen of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; a sister, Marjorie Bowen of Whallansburg; 3 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nicholas and Michael, and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; a son, Neal Barry Miner; two brothers; Cassius and Donald Shappy; and two sisters, Flora and Ruth Shappy passed away earlier.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. Plattsburgh, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be offered to the H.K. Freedman Renal Center at CVPH or the Church of the Assumption.
