Leslie Stansbury

ALTONA — Leslie Stansbury, age 71, passed away at CVPH Medical Center on Dec. 23, 2012. He was born on May 10, 1941, in Washington, D.C.

He graduated from Laurel High School in Laurel, Md. In 1959. He entered the Air Force and was stationed at Tyndall AFB. He also served a tour of duty at Pagwa River, Ontario. He completed many educational courses in the Air Force and in Corrections until his retirement from Howard County Department of Corrections as a captain in 2003.

He moved to Altona and lived there until he moved in with his brother in Ausable due to his deteriorating health conditions. After his retirement, he enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his twin brother, Ed and his wife Marjorie of AuSable. He had 5 stepchildren from his previous marriages; Charles Gains and his wife Nora and their children Tony and Charles Jr., Al Gains and his wife Melissa and their son Austin, James and Vicky Gains and their daughter April, Michael Gains and his partner Melissa Clark, Patty Gains, Edna and Robert Peterson and their two children; two nephews, Steven Stansbury and his wife Crystal, William Stansbury and his wife Shannon; two great-nephews Steven and Cody Stansbury.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Garland Stansbury .

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday December 29, at the Brown Funeral Home in Altona. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be later in the year in Holy Angels Cemetery.
