June H. Heming

PLATTSBURGH — June H. Heming, 88, of Leonard Avenue, died Tuesday evening at the CVPH Medical Center. Mrs. Heming was born in San Diego, Calif., Nov. 27, 1924, the daughter of John and Violet (Keller) Baldwin.

She married Hilton Heming at St. John's Episcopal Church, St. Louis, Mo., in 1947. Mr. Heming died in 1999.

Mrs. Heming was an Army nurse during World War II and received her registered nurses degree from The Jewish Hospital of Nursing in St. Louis in 1947. She moved to Plattsburgh in 1956 and took a nursing position at the Physician's Hospital, where she worked for several years.

Mrs. Heming was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and of the Vestry. She was a former member of Ladies of the Elks, a charter member of the League of Women Voters, a former vice president and member of the Plattsburgh School District Board of Education from 1971-1976, and a member of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include a son, Gregory Heming and his wife Yadira of Irmo, S.C.; a daughter, Judith Polowy of Buffalo; her sister, Colleen Robinson of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Christopher, David and John Heming, Kristhina Nagueiras and her husband George, Lindsay DiStefano and Michelle Polowy; three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Lyla Nogueiras and Melina Stanton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Alt.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh, followed by a service in the funeral home chapel.

In honor of her husband, donations may be made to the Dr. Hilton Heming Scholarship Fund, for future teachers enrolled at Plattsburgh State University.
