Jack O. Collins

GERMANTOWN, MD. — Mr. Jack O. Collins, 82, of Germantown, Md., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his home, with his loving family by his side.

Married July 16, 1952, he was the husband of June (Obsorne) Collins for more than 60 years.

Born Jan. 23, 1931, in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., he was the son of the late Raymond Collins and Dorothy (Revor) Collins.

Jack and June graduated from Lyon Mountain High School in June of 1951. Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served 20 years, retiring as an E-7. He ran multiple NCO Clubs throughout his career and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his retirement from the Army, he worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation in Bethesda, Md., and retired after 28 years. He served as an administrative assistant to three presidents and CEOs of the corporation. After retiring, he and June spent numerous years traveling to and from Hawaii, which they loved, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his wife June and their three children, Melinda Guenzi of Virginia Beach, Va., Jackie (Walt) McCorkill of Chesapeake, Va., and Mark (Susie) Collins of Monrovia, Md. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Jordynn Collins, Taylor McCorkill, Nikki Collins, Mary McCorkill, Brady Collins and Brooke Collins. He also leaves behind his sister, Bonnie (Carl) LaDuke of North Syracuse, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Rd., Damascus, MD 20872 on Friday, March 22. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Dr., Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Maria and her team for the loving care of their husband and father.
