Ane Kalvaitis

WEST CHAZY — Ane Kalvaitis, 94, formerly of the Ashley Road, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility. She was born in Zalpe, Lithuania, on Feb. 13, 1918, the daughter of Promus and Ane O. Kiaupa.

Ane married Otto in April of 1943 in Lithuania. They then immigrated to the United States in August of 1950. In 1954, they purchased a farm in West Chazy that they owned and operated. The farm is still currently operated by the Kalvaitis Family. Otto predeceased her in October of 1989.

Ane enjoyed many things in life including gardening, canning , farming, knitting and spinning.

Survivors include three children, Willi Otto Kalvaitis and his wife Barbara of West Chazy and their children, Katerine (Craig) Chepeleff, Joan Kalvaitis, Frederick (Christine) Kalvaitis and Christiana (David) Navan; Alfred Kalvaitis and his wife Linda of West Chazy and their children, Ian (Ashley) Webb Kalvaitis, Kristup (Jessica) Erik Kalvaitis, and Hans (Danielle) Alfred Kalvaitis and two stepgrandchildren, Matt and Emily Gilmore; and Hedwig Gerda Avallone and her husband Frank of Silver Springs, Md., and their daughter, Marta (Bryan) Ane Baxter Parrotte and stepgranddaughter, Janice Hohman; five great-grandchildren, Josh, Evan, Adelle, Avan, and Karina; and one sister, Meta Zyvatkouskvas of Toronto, Canada.

There will be no public calling hours.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, in the R.W. Walker Funeral Home Chapel.

Donations in her memory may be made to the West Chazy Volunteer Fire Department or the American Heart Association.
