Maud H. Bechard

CHAZY — Maud H. Bechard, "Molly B", 93, formerly of Route 9, Chazy, entered into eternal rest, Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh. She was born in Chazy on March 12, 1919, a daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Rock) Lucia.

She married Harvey H. Bechard Feb. 12, 1939, at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Maud was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed many hobbies such as camping, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and feeding and watching the birds. Maud worked at Chazy Hotel for many years as a chef, although cooking for family was one of her greatest joys. She also loved to share stories of her childhood, which was filled with laughter and love.

Maud was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a life member of the Altar Rosary Society, and a volunteer for the Catholic Faith Formation of Sacred Heart Parish from 1962 to 1980.

Her loving family includes her two daughters, Shirley Blair and husband James of Chazy, and Lucy Monette of Champlain; six grandchildren, Kimberly Blair Maglione, Brenda Bourque, Suzanne Currier, George Monette, Sean H. Bechard and Rebecca Bechard; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Maud is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey H. Bechard; her son, Floyd H. Bechard; her sisters, Amelia Spence, Pauline Lucia, Helena Latourneau, Leona Ball, Catherine Dumar, Ann Yanowski, and Florence Corron; and her brothers, Clarence, Charles, Clifford and Triffly Lucia.

The family wishes to acknowledge the staff of Meadowbrook Heath Care Facility, especially staff on the fourth floor, for their exceptional care during Maud's residency.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm St., Champlain, NY.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at Sacred Heart Church, Church St., Chazy, NY. Rev. Raymond J. Moreau, Pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Contributions in Maud's memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church Religious Education Program or Masses may be said in her memory.
