Andrew "Andy" T. Facteau

SARANAC — Mr. Andrew Andy T. Facteau, 85, of Facteau Road, Saranac, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday Dec. 5, 2012 at Fletcher Allen Heathcare in Burlington, Vt. He was born in Saranac, N.Y., on Jan. 9, 1927, the son of Ovid and Lena (Collins) Facteau, Sr.

Andrew worked construction at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in the 1950's and later worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed working on his tractor "Harley" and being in the woods. Andrew was always willing to lend a hand and help a neighbor.

He was a parishioner at Church of the Assumption in Redford, N.Y. Andrew was referred to as Dad by his kids, Papa and Pepe by his grandchildren and Papa Bum by his great- grandchildren.

Andrew was predeceased by his parents; an infant daughter, Sheila; three sons; Ronnie, Gary and Billy; three brothers; Clement, Ovid Jr. and Howard; a sister, Monica; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lillian and Ider Couture; and a great-grandson, Noah.

Andrew is survived by his wife of 65 years Barbara (Couture) Facteau of Saranac; four sons, Larry Facteau and his wife Judy of Morrisonville, Timothy Facteau and his wife Diane of Dannemora, John Facteau and his wife Linda of Peru, Anthony Facteau and his wife Sue of Saranac; three daughters, Sandy Davidson and her husband Bob of Saranac, Mary Napper and her husband Randy of Saranac and Shirley Boland of Plattsburgh; a daughter-in-law, Shelia Facteau of Plattsburgh; 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Alice Cringle, Mildred Rock and Barbara Serrell, several nieces, nephews, cousins also survive him.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 8, and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 9, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, care of Brown Funeral Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY, 12901. Online condolences and memorials candles may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com.

He was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Champlain, the son of the late Emmett and Elsie (Allard) LaFontaine and was educated in Champlain schools. Russell served in the United States Army during World War II. He married the former Leona Dupee. Mrs. LaFontaine passed away in 1989.
