PLATTSBURGH — MOOERS — Evelyn L. LaJammier, 90, formerly of the Hemmingford Road, Mooers and more recently of Route 22, Mooers, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Mooers, April 9, 1922, the daughter of Edward and Cora (Babbie) Parrotte.
Evelyn was a waitress at Napoleon's Restaurant in Plattsburgh for more than 10 years and later at Howard Johnsons in Plattsburgh for more than 20 years.
She was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church and the Altar Rosary Society. Evelyn was also a member of the Mooers Good Fellowship Club, and the Mooers American Legion Post 538 Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed wintering in Florida with her husband. After his passing, she continued to travel south with her friend Julie Forkey. She especially enjoyed visiting with people, particularly over a meal. She will be remembered as a social butterfly. She also enjoyed traveling with the Kitchen Band.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nicky and Kevin Strack of Mooers; one daughter-in-law, JoAnn LaJammier of Plattsburgh; five grandchildren, Nichole Favreau and husband Mike, Rachel Hunt and husband Leroy, Josh Strack, Robin Quinn and husband Andrew, and Roxanne Sawyer and husband Russell; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Hilda Fresn and husband Carl of Champlain; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Vernon N. LaJammier on Aug. 15, 1998; and one son, Robert L. LaJammier on Jan. 20, 2010.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at St. Joseph's Church in Mooers with Rev. Gerald A. Cerank, parish Pastor, celebrating. Entombment will follow in the Whispering Maples Memorial Mausoleum in Ellenburg Center.
