SCHUYLER FALLS — Francis R. Merrill, 82, of State Route 22B, Schuyler Falls, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh, July 15, 1930, the son of Hubert and Mildred (Bragg) Merrill.
Francis served in the United States Air Force from 1948 until his honorable discharge in 1959. He retired in 1992 following 33 years of dedicated service with the Plattsburgh Quarry. Francis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Leta (Martineau) Merrill, whom he married May 30, 1953 in Peru; daughter, Belinda Burgess of Peru; grandchildren, Jake Burgess and wife Marissa and Amy Intini and companion Phil Quinn all of Long Island, and Bryce Burl and Brytyn Burl both of Peru; great granddaughter, Alyssa Intini of Long Island; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Barbara Relation; and brothers, Carlton, Harris and James.
Calling hours will be held Monday, Jan. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home.
