KEENE — Margaret "Marge" Surhoff, 90, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown. She was born in Astoria, N.Y., March 8, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Muller) Finnegan.
She is survived by her husband Charles (Chuck) Surhoff of Keene; her daughters Geri Robinson and her husband Gary of Spring Hill, Fla., Jacqueline Beatty and her husband Bob of East Meadow, N.Y., Maggie Sheldon and her husband Dan of Keene Valley; and her son Edward Denning and his wife Liz of East Meadow, N.Y. Marge also had 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Marge was an avid painter and she took great pleasure painting scenes from their home on Hurricane Road in Keene as well as their second home on the Gulf of Florida. She was active with the Keene Valley High Peaks Artists. She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the local Garden Club. In particular, she loved roses and prided herself on her beautiful rose bushes.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Marge's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 12, 2013, at St. Brendan's Church in Keene . In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Keene Valley Neighborhood House, P.O. Box 46, Keene Valley, NY 12943.
