Margaret "Peg" McClatchie

PLATTSBURGH — Margaret "Peg" McClatchie, 95, formerly of Apple Valley Senior Housing passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, NY.

She was born Jan. 21, 1917, in Paul Smiths, N.Y., the daughter of Louis Henry Abare and Margaret (LaMay) Abare. In 1937, she married Weslie McClatchie in Saranac Lake, N.Y. They raised four children in Westport, N.Y., later moving to Peru, N.Y.

Margaret was an avid crafter. Her lace-trimmed, glass-ball, Christmas ornaments adorn the trees of family and friends. They will be a wonderful remembrance every Christmas. Margaret will be remembered for her kind and caring ways by all who had the fortune to know her.

She is survived by two sisters, Leona Latour of Syracuse, N.Y., and Charlotte Bredlow of Bel Air, Md.; one brother, Sidney Abare of Malden, Mass.; one son, Kenneth McClatchie and his wife, Valerie, of Marietta, Ga.; three daughters, Patricia and her husband, Michael Bardon, of Marietta, Ga., Sandra and the late Carleton Morse of Peru, N.Y., Margaret and her husband, John Dockum, of Au Sable Forks, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren and spouses, Gwen Bardon, Shari (Bardon) and Thomas Harris, Michael Bardon III, Karen Bardon, Jonathan Bardon, Kimberly McClatchie, Kenneth McClatchie Jr. and Helena, Carleton Morse Jr. and Janice, Christopher Morse and Emi, Chad Morse, Warren Haseltine IV, Marybeth (Dockum) and Ron Beyer, Thomas Dockum and Ellen; 13 great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Harris, Kristin Harris, Joseph Targia, Justin Targia, Nathan Bardon, Brianna McClatchie, Taylor Morse, Claire Morse, Lucas Morse, Grant Beyer, Gretchen Beyer, Jake Dockum and Joshua Dockum; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret is predeceased by her parents, husband, four brothers, a sister, and a grandson.

A private graveside service was held Wednesday, Dec. 26 at St. Augustine's Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held in the spring with announcements in local papers.
