PLATTSBURGH — Mary L. Facteau, 87, of Flynn Avenue, Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Burlington, Vt., on Jan. 20, 1925, the daughter of Vernon and Florence (Cotey) Brooks.
Mary grew up in the Burlington, Vt., area. During World War II, she worked for the Ration Board in Rhode Island and later worked as a telephone operator for N.Y. Telephone in Plattsburgh for 32 years. She was a member of the telephone pioneers. Mary enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family; she loved music and had learned to play the guitar.
She is survived by her companion of more than 30 years, Eugene Lavigne, and his children, Eugene and Timothy Lavigne; a son, Mark Facteau of Plattsburgh and his companion, Brenda Forbes of Montreal, Quebec; two daughters, Bonnie Facteau of Plattsburgh and Lori Skoblicki and her husband, Paul of Palm City, Fla.; six grandchildren, George Facteau and his partner, Megan Scott, Adam and Stephanie Facteau, Cameron Facteau, Thomas Pagano, Mark and Alexandra Skoblicki.
At Mary's request, there will be no public calling hours; services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
