LYON MOUNTAIN — The unbeaten Lyon Mountain Miners pounded out two more victories Sunday with an 11-6 and 12-6 doubleheader sweep of the Airborne Speedway Padres in the Champlain Valley Baseball League.
In Game 1, Scott Baker rapped out three hits and drove in two runs, while Kyle Kowalowski added two triples and two RBI. Cody Weaver and Brett Palmer each chipped in with a single and double in support of winning pitcher David Waldron.
Matt Rivers, Frank Brogna and Chris Markwica paced the Padres with two hits apiece, while Mark Eggleston and Cory Trombley drove in two runs apiece.
In Game 2, the Miners (12-0) held an 8-6 lead in the sixth inning when Baker's grand slam broke it open.
Jerry Kowalowski went three-for-three. Waldron, Baker and Reilly Lawless rapped out two hits each and Weaver accounted for a three-run triple in a seven-run third in support of winning pitcher Chris VanHouten.
Donny Coolidge led the Padres (2-10) with a double and two singles, while Eggleston chipped in with a double, single and two RBI. Rivers and Jeff Norton also had two hits.

PLATTSBURGH — The second-place Plattsburgh Cardinals (9-3) and Meron's Expos (5-7), both shorthanded for the two games, split their doubleheader at South Acres Field.
The Expos took Game 1 as Jessie Collins went the distance for the pitching win.
Kris Cauchon, Mark Passino and Josh Powers led the Expos with two hits each, with Cauchon getting a double. Andy Gooch rapped a two-run homer.
Tory Bouyea clubbed a grand slam, while Nate Durkee added a RBI double for the Cardinals.
In Game 2, the Cardinals erased a 5-3 deficit with five runs in the sixth inning and then held on for the win.
The Expos scored two in the bottom of the seventh to pull to within one and had runners on first and third, with two out, when third baseman Durkee made a nice defensive play for the game's final out.
Steve Burris struck out 11 in going the distance for the win. Alex LaFountain accounted for two singles and a double for the Cardinals, while Durkee rapped a RBI double.
Passino led the Expos with a double, triple and three RBI, while Gooch hit another home run and also doubled.

PLATTSBURGH — Andrew Price outdueled Gus Terry in the first game and the Fourth Ward Timberjaxx (6-6) then went on to sweep the Fourth Ward A's (2-10) at Lefty Wilson Field.
Price struck out six, allowed four hits and pitched into the seventh inning for the Game 1 victory. Terry surrendered five hits in going the route for the loss.
The first two A's batters got on base in the seventh and Jim Knight took over for Price. Knight induced a double play and then got an infield pop to record the save.
The Timberjaxx broke a 1-all tie in the top of the seventh when D.J. Barber doubled, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.
Price accounted for two of the Timberjaxx's hits with a double and single. Jake Tolosky had two of four hits for the A's.
Game 2 wasn't nearly as close as the Timberjaxx broke it open with five runs in the sixth and seven more in the seventh.
Winning pitcher Barber, who went the distance for the pitching win, Justin Mahan, Josh Chapman, Terry Brunell and Eric Rock all had three hits each.
Mahan had a double, home run and four RBI, Barber a double and two RBI, Chapman a double, Brunell three RBI, Rock two RBI and Knight three RBI.
Four players accounted for the A's hits, with Michael Howard getting a double.
